The last third of the book picks up with some big battles and a bit more character development, but comes rather late to make me care. The atmosphere in the first half of the book is reminiscent of a post-apocalyptic world. Darius Hinks and 1 other person liked Christian’s review of Blackstone Fortress: I had high expectations for this novel and it didn’t disappoint at all. Those holy men dariua have devoted there lives not only to Sigmar himself and his return but to the very empire he forged. About two thirds into the story, it changes pace and the reader is forced into the point of view of another character that is suddenly introduced.

The small amount of information that already existed suggested a deranged, self-obsessed, rapacious demigod, blessed with immortality and legions of adoring piest but very little grasp on reality.
