I think I would have liked it a lot more if this book was written differently. This book was required reading for my college Anthropology class. It is a very humbling read. Paperbackpages.

Every photo has so much meaning This story is a great informational text by Bruce Knauft. However, Knauft and his wife simply stumbled into an uninhabited swamp.
It is rich because of the extended period of research, the depth of understanding on the part of the ethnographer, and importance of the group being studied.

It is well-done and raw documentation of the people. Knauft’s descriptive writing allows an exceptional view of their daily lives, it almost seems as the reader grows to know the Gebusi themselves. He is aware of his tne fallibility and works to distinguish unique incidents from those typical of the culture.
By documenting the unadulterated Gebusi before modernization and globalization seeped in, Knauft was able to help preserve the culture of a dying rainforest civilization so gevusi they do not vanish completely. This was a very thhe book that was filled with a lot of good information. It is a very refreshing read, it gives you a chance to see how a group of people live their lives away from modern society.
